Frankie Gomez and Joseph Diaz Jr., two of the Southland’s rising boxing stars, will appear in separate fights at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on Feb. 2, their promoter announced Thursday.

East Los Angeles welterweight Gomez (14-0, 11 knockouts) finished 2012 with consecutive knockouts, the last of which was a first-round flooring of veteran Pavel Miranda on Dec. 15 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on the Amir Khan-Carlos Molina undercard.

Gomez will headline the Cosmopolitan show, to be televised by Fox Sports networks beginning at 8 p.m., in a scheduled 10-round bout against Houston’s Lanard Lane (13-2, eight KOs).

His Feb. 2 opponent is yet to be announced.

The card will also include a bout with Cleveland’s super-featherweight Mickey Bey (18-0-1, nine KOs), a 2004 U.S. Olympian.
