Bengals DB Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones reports own arrest on Twitter

Adam “Pacman” Jones’ streak of steering clear of trouble with the law since signing with the Cincinnati Bengals back in 2010 seems to have come to an end.

He apparently reported the news of his own arrest Monday morning on Twitter:

Mike Florio of NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk reported Monday that Jones would be turning himself in to authorities later in the day after an alleged incident at a bar Thursday following a Cincinnati Reds game.

Jones’ agent, Peter Schaffer, told Florio by phone that Jones declined a photo request from two women because he had determined that they were intoxicated. Schaffer said one of the women then threw a beer bottle at Jones and hit him in the head.

The player responded by slapping the woman and saying, “What are you doing? Stop it,” according to Schaffer, who said that multiple eyewitnesses corroborate Jones’ version of the story.

The agent added, though, that the police did not speak to any of those witnesses. “If it was anybody other than Adam Jones, they would have investigated it,” Schaffer said of the police. “If it was anybody other than Adam Jones, they wouldn’t have arrested him.”

Jones was drafted sixth overall by the Tennessee Titans in 2005, but numerous run-ins with the law led to a one-year suspension in 2007-08 and a trade to Dallas in 2008. After a lackluster season with the Cowboys, he spent another year out of the NFL before resuscitating his career with the Bengals.
