Nebraska, Oklahoma State get restarted in Times’ football rankings

There has been a shake-up in the interchangeable sock-drawer positions of 20 through 25. Nebraska and Oklahoma State rejoin the static-cling cluster while the Huskies (Northern Illinois) and the Hokies (Virginia Tech) infiltrate the rankings for the first time this season. No. 6 Florida State used a 63-0 win over Maryland to leapfrog Louisville and Georgia. Sometimes piling it on counts. Researchers are checking to see whether No. 16 Washington is the first school to move up after a loss, and also whether Georgia is the first team to drop three spots after a victory. This week’s No. 24 spot is sponsored by the city of DeKalb, Ill., leader of the barbed-wire industry since the late 1800s.
