Anaheim Servite (3-2) vs. Santa Ana Mater Dei (5-0) at Angel Stadium, 7 p.m. “The real season begins,” Servite Coach A.J. Gass said. Yes, it’s a grueling five-week Trinity League challenge, and first up is this showdown between Catholic school rivals. Servite was smacked by Concord De La Salle last week, but the Friars are very dangerous with quarterback Travis Waller and an excellent group of receivers. Mater Dei had a bye to work out some offensive mistakes and get healthy. Quarterback Chase Forrest and defensive back Jonathan Lockett are the players to watch. The pick: Servite.

La Puente Bishop Amat (5-1) at Sherman Oaks Notre Dame (4-2), 7 p.m. It’s another challenging quarterback test for a Notre Dame defense that already has faced Boise State-bound Jalen Greene (Gardena Serra), Colorado-bound Cade Apsay (CC Canyon) and Miami-bound Brad Kaaya (Chaminade). Koa Haynes is Bishop Amat’s senior standout with 17 touchdown passes. Notre Dame has its own Koa, as in Koa Farmer, whose offensive and defensive contributions will be key. The pick: Notre Dame.
