ESPN’s Doris Burke gets contract extension

Doris Burke, a versatile commentator for ESPN, has signed a multiyear contract extension, according to the sports cable network.

As part of the new deal, Burke will join the Wednesday edition of “Kia NBA Countdown,” ESPN’s NBA pre-game show, with analyst Jalen Rose and newcomer Avery Johnson. She will make her “Countdown” debut on Nov. 13 at 4:30 p.m. PT.

Burke will continue to serve as both an analyst and a reporter for NBA games on ABC and ESPN, including the NBA Finals. She will also keep her role as a lead men’s college basketball and women’s college basketball game analyst, a role that includes the Women’s Final Four.

“This next chapter in my ESPN journey is going to be exciting, challenging and most of all, rewarding,” Burke said. “Working on ‘NBA Countdown’ offers me a chance to do everything I love -- I get to talk basketball with my colleagues while hopefully facilitating some great discussion on NBA’s top story lines.”
