If you were shocked the Cleveland Browns traded running back Trent Richardson to Indianapolis, just imagine how Richardson felt.

“I turned on the radio and all of a sudden I heard,” Richardson told 19 News in Cleveland, per ProFootballTalk.com. “I can’t believe it. I didn’t see it coming from anywhere. I have a good relationship with everybody. But I guess it’s the best move for the Browns.

“At the end of the day, it’s the best move for both of us, I guess. I wanted to be a Brown, I didn’t see it coming, but at the same time, I’m a Colt now, so I’ve got to move on and be ready for Sunday’s game.”

Richardson was selected third overall in the 2012 draft, two spots behind Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.

“Me and Andrew have been good friends for awhile,” he said. “We were in the Heisman race together, we did stuff at the draft together. Andrew’s a good dude.”

Colts Coach Chuck Pagano said he expects Richardson to contribute right away, as in, Sunday’s game at San Francisco.

“We did not bring him in here to be the water boy on Sunday,” Pagano said Thursday. “He’ll be ready to roll.”
