College basketball roundup: It’s eight straight losses for the 49ers

Lagerald Vick scored a career-high 23 points on near-perfect shooting, Svi Mykhailiuk had 14 and fourth-ranked Kansas rolled to a 91-61 victory over Long Beach State on Tuesday night in Lawrence, Kan.

Josh Jackson added 13 points for the Jayhawks (6-1), who doubled up the 49ers (1-8) at 50-25 out of the break and coasted to their 44th straight win at Allen Fieldhouse.

Justin Bibbins had 13 points for Long Beach State, which has lost eight in a row — all on the road. The 49ers have one more game left on a nine-game trip that covers more than 15,000 miles, and has included loss to North Carolina, UCLA, Louisville, Washington and Wichita State.

No. 2 Villanova 82, at Penn 57: Kris Jenkins made six three-point shots and scored 22 points for the Wildcats (7-0), who beat the Quakers (2-3) for the 14th straight time.

at No. 5 Duke 78, Michigan State 69: Grayson Allen scored 24 points and the Blue Devils (7-1) dropped the Spartans to 4-4.

at No. 17 Wisconsin 77, No. 22 Syracuse 60: Ethan Happ had 24 points and 13 rebounds for the Badgers (6-2), who made 11 of 23 three-point shots against the 2-3 zone of the Orange (4-2).

at Valparaiso 65, No. 21 Rhode Island 62: Alec Peters scored 27 points for the Crusaders (7-1) and got a piece of Jarvis Garrett’s potential game-tying three-pointer as time expired. It was the first true road game of the season for the Rams (5-2).
