Rams receiver Tavon Austin is a fourth-year pro, but in his first training camp in Los Angeles, it feels as though he’s returned to college.

The Rams are practicing on the campus of UC Irvine, but instead of living in a hotel or commuting home, which was the case in St. Louis, they’re staying in dorms.

“We are around the guys all day, sun up to sun down, ” Austin said after the first day of camp on Saturday. “So it’s one of the unique things about the situation. We can’t really go home to nobody. It’s just strictly football and meetings.

“That’s the best thing about it.”

The Rams have not made the playoffs in 12 seasons.

Austin, who caught 52 passes, five for touchdowns last season, said the living situation would be important for building team chemistry.

“With what our success has been, it really hasn’t been too much, so we need to focus up,” Austin said.

The Rams resume camp Sunday.
