Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena reportedly set for contract extension

The Galaxy was set to announce a multiyear contract extension for Bruce Arena, the soccer team’s head coach and general manager, the Los Angeles Times has learned.
The announcement could come as early as Thursday, according to people familiar with the situation who were not authorized to discuss it publicly.
Arena, 62, is entering his seventh season with the Galaxy, having led the team to Major League Soccer championships in 2011 and 2012. His overall record with the Galaxy is 82-46-44.
He also won two MLS Cups while coaching D.C. United in 1996 and 1997. Arena was the first MLS coach to win four MLS titles.
A member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, Arena also was coach of the U.S. men’s soccer team from 1998 to 2006, including the World Cups in 2002 and 2006. And he was the coach of the U.S. team at the 1996 Olympics.
