Maddie Bowman three-peats in ski halfpipe at X Games
With yet another victory at the X Games, Maddie Bowman has extended a winning streak to historic proportions.
The 21-year-old from South Lake Tahoe, Calif., captured her third-consecutive ski halfpipe title in Aspen, Colo., on Wednesday night, equaling a mark set by Sarah Burke from 2007 to 2009.
“I grew up idolizing Sarah Burke,” Bowman said. “And the first time I met her was at the X Games.”
Burke died in a training crash in 2012.
“Sarah is the reason we’re here,” Bowman said.
The winning run came on the first of Bowman’s three attempts of the evening. In between her most recent X Games wins, she took gold at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
