Ravens, Baltimore businesses offer deals for unwanted Ray Rice jerseys
Baltimore Ravens fans who once proudly wore the running back Ray Rice’s No. 27 have some options for what to do with those jerseys after the termination of Rice’s contract with the team.
The Ravens, which dropped Rice on Monday after the release of a graphic video purporting to show him beating his now-wife in an elevator in February, plan to offer an exchange for Rice jerseys at stadium stores. A tweet announcing the deal says details are to come.
Fans wanting to be rid of the shirts also can turn them in at No Idea Tavern for a free $10 tab or at Hersh’s Pizza and Drinks for a free pizza. Both Baltimore businesses also will be donating $2.70 per jersey received to a local nonprofit that aids victims of domestic violence.
What will the businesses do with those jerseys? Hersh’s has one idea in mind:
“These jerseys will save us money on toilet paper this week,” the restaurant said on its Facebook page. Commenters also suggested donating them to charitable organizations.
