Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor ends holdout

The Seattle Seahawks are still 0-2, but one of their nightmares has come to an end.

Pro Bowl safety Kam Chancellor ended his contract holdout Wednesday and reported to the team, which plays host to Chicago on Sunday in a home opener.

Chancellor texted the following to ESPN host Stephen A. Smith, in which he referenced running back Marshawn Lynch: “Ima go help my teammates that are understanding of my position and the ones who aren’t. God forgives all, why can’t i? Time to help us get back to the big dance . I can address business after the season. Me and Marshawn started a mission 2 years ago. I can’t let my Dawg down….Real talk.”

Chancellor, 27, informed the Seahawks in April that he intended to hold out unless he got a new contract. The agreement he signed two years ago reportedly includes base salaries of $4.55 million this season, $5.1 million in 2016, and $6.8 million in 2017.

He could face fines and missed paychecks totaling more than $2 million from the team for missing training camp and the first two games. Under his current deal, he is paid $267,647 per game.
