Tim Tebow, Colin Kaepernick share something: 0.0 passer rating

Tim Tebow, the third-string quarterback for the New England Patriots, and Colin Kaepernick, who led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl last season, had something in common Friday: a 0.0 passer rating.

The two dual-threat quarterbacks didn’t muster much in the aerial game in preseason outings Friday night. You probably never thought you’d hear that ... about Kaepernick.

Tebow is another story. He completed only one of seven passes for minus-1 yard. He also had a pass intercepted.

Kaepernick also completed only one pass, but he attempted just two. The completion went for a minus-3 yards. He played only one series in the 15-13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs and did not attempt to run. He did misfire on a pass to Chad Hill, who was open heading toward the end zone.

“It was a little overthrown,” Kaepernick said. “We got the perfect look.”

The Patriots also won, defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 25-21. Tebow did run in the victory, gaining 30 yards on six attempts.

Tebow was his usual unflappable self after the game.

“It was definitely something I shouldn’t have thrown,” he said of the interception. “You want to do your best and play to the best of your ability and have it all go right, and sometimes it doesn’t. You just have to keep going.”
