Former WWE star the Ultimate Warrior dead at 54

WWE star the Ultimate Warrior, 54, who was just inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame and appeared on its flagship “Monday Night Raw” TV show this week, has died in Arizona at age 54.

Warrior, who was born James Hellwig but had his name legally changed to Warrior several years ago, collapsed while walking with his wife outside an Arizona hotel. He was rushed to a hospital and pronounced dead Tuesday night.

“WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, the Ultimate Warrior,” WWE said in a statement.

“We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans.

“WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans.”

Warrior is survived by his wife, Dana, and his two daughters.
