China continued its domination in men’s gymnastics and the U.S. earned a bronze medal in the team event at the world championships in Nanning, China, on Tuesday.

Trailing for much of the competition, the Chinese needed a top score on the high bar to edge past Japan by 0.1 points.

The Americans, who finished three points behind, had been looking for redemption after a disappointing 2012 London Olympics, where they finished fifth.

This time around, Jacob Dalton, Samuel Mikulak and Donnell Whittenburg led the team past Great Britain with strong floor routines.

As for the Chinese, the reigning Olympic gold medalists have won every world championship since losing to Belarus in 2001.
