Hang around; we have some ideas for new Christmas tree ornaments

Share

Now you can trim the tree with more than traditional red and green baubles; disco balls, rustic animals and “Pantone pink” ornaments are taking center stage this holiday season.

What’s hot this year?

Whimsical critters are widespread as ruffled wool roosters, feathered owls and felted hedgehogs offer a sweet complement to colorful glass balls and champagne-colored icicles.

Laser-cut ornaments are also big, with many decorations available as boxed sets. Roost’s set of 12 delicate laser-cut St. Lucia Birch snowflakes ($20) comes housed in a simple wood box that is perfect for gift-giving.

Similarly, laser-cut brushed brass ornaments ($16 apiece) in six shapes by Danish design firm Studio Arhoj come in a sturdy box for safekeeping.

There may be trends, like snow globes and alphabet adornments, but there are no rules.

Here, we offer a wide-ranging assortment — available in stores now and perhaps discounted soon — for your holiday tree. (They’d also make a nice hostess gift.)
