App leads way to West Coast adventures

What’s hot: Discovering fun things to do even the locals haven’t considered, including secret surf spots, guided tours of Redwood National Park, lighthouse stays and trail rides to check out the wild mustangs. Let the app use your current location, and it will show you how far away activities are as well as give you directions.
What’s not: The browse feature didn’t do much for me as a central starting page. Instead, use the filter wheel in the upper left corner of the screen to go straight to your personal interests — camping, day hiking, winter adventures, climbing and more. You can also amend by distance and state.
Worth it: If you’re hungry for new weekend escapes, then yes, this app will get you started. Author Robert Earle Howells has a long list of adventure publications to his credit, including National Geographic Adventure and Outside magazines.
