Get summer concert tickets with Sheraton hotel package

Book a room, score concert tickets. That’s the offer from Sheraton Hotels & Resorts where a two-night weekend stay comes with two tickets to see Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow or other performers this summer.

The deal: Here’s how it works: Choose a Sheraton hotel and select the “Live Nation” package for a stay of at least two nights Thursdays through Sundays. Use the promo code “SILAWN” when making a reservation online or by phone.

After you make the reservation, a redemption code will be sent to you within 15 business days, Sheraton says. Go to Sheraton’s website to peruse the list of concerts and redeem the code for two tickets. (It won’t work if you go through Live Nation directly). The tickets are general admission/lawn seating -- not reserved seats. You pick the concert date and place.

This package, which is nonrefundable, applies to hotel stays in North America only. Also, tickets for popular concerts, such as Rihanna on July 4 in Albuquerque or Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow on Aug. 27 in Charlotte, N.C., will probably go quickly.

When: The ticket offer is good for stays through Sept. 5, based on availability.

Tested: I found the package available from July 1 to 4 at the Sheraton Albuquerque Airport Hotel for $90 plus tax a night. As a comparison, the best available rate on the same nights for the room alone was $85 plus tax.

The idea I had was to celebrate the Fourth of July in Albuquerque and redeem the free tickets for a concert that night on Rihanna’s Loud Tour, with guests Cee Lo Green and J. Cole. (The dates and places of your hotel stay and the concert don’t have to be the same; I just thought it would be fun to do it that way.)

The savings: Lawn tickets for this concert series usually start at $32.75 each, including fees.

Concerts in California that are part of the Sheraton promotion include System of a Down (May 25) and Fishfest 2011: Mercyme & Third Day (June 25), both at Irvine Meadows / Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.
