Friday Travel Ticker: Disney extends the season

Disneyland is marking Three Kings Day — also known as the Twelfth Night or Feast of the Epiphany — in a big way this season. It’s another milestone in the mainstreaming of a holiday that is beloved in Latin America and other cultures around the world. The Christian holiday takes place Jan. 6, ending the 12 days of Christmas. The park will host Three Kings Day Jan. 4-6 at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree in Disneyland’s Frontierland . . . . A group called America’s State Parks is calling on Americans to start the new year by getting off the couch and taking a hike. Fourteen wineries will come together in Paso Robles on Jan. 19 for Esprit du Vin, the Spirit of Wine. Cheese, olives, olive oils, breads, pastries and more will be served by local chefs and artisans. Passenger volume at LAX is expected to increase 5.38% to nearly 2.24 million passengers this holiday travel season, compared with 2.13 million actual passengers last year . . . .
