Justin Bieber accused of running stop sign, driving without license

Justin Bieber was cited early Wednesday for allegedly running a stop sign and driving without a valid California license, officials said.

It was the latest run-in with the law for the pop singer, who in recent months has been investigated for everything from allegedly spitting at a neighbor to allegedly driving recklessly down suburban residential streets.

Bieber was stopped in Calabasas, where he lives. When questioned by a deputy, he acknowledged living in the state but could not produce a driver’s license, said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The deputy cited Bieber and allowed a passenger to drive the singer’s Ferrari away with Bieber inside, Whitmore said.

“He was cooperative,” Whitmore said of the singer.

Bieber’s sports car could have been towed, but Whitmore said it is up to the discretion of a deputy.

Prosecutors have twice declined to file charges against Bieber for run-ins with paparazzi. Sheriff’s officials also have investigated allegations that he drove recklessly in his gated community and that he spat in a neighbor’s face during an altercation.
