2 killed in fiery crash on 605 Freeway
A woman and young boy believed to be her son were killed early Saturday in a fiery crash on the 605 Freeway, authorities said.
Elizabeth Ortiz, 26, and Jason Ortiz, 8, of Los Angeles died about 2:15 a.m. when the Toyota she was driving experienced a blowout and overturned just south of Katella Avenue, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
A Los Alamitos police officer was able to pull two passengers to safety, she said, but before he could return, the vehicle exploded, killing the Ortizes who were trapped inside.
