Southern Section transfer number rises to 5,700, an increase from last year
Since last July, high schools in the Southern Section have submitted transfer paperwork for 5,700 students, according to Southern Section transfer records. That compares to 5,278 in a similar period for 2014-2015.
Almost 3,200 are part of the sitout period rule, where they have to sitout for about a month of their season or have limited eligibility. Last year in a similar period, the number was 2,869.
There was transfer paperwork submitted for 498 transfers in January, down from 657 in December. In November, the number was 615; 715 in October; 1,370 in September; 1,645 in August; 200 in July.
