Yankees fan plants more seeds in rivalry
It took a while, and a purchase of New York Yankees grass seeds, but a Yankees fan believes he has evened the score after a construction worker buried a Boston Red Sox jersey at the then-in-progress new Yankee Stadium.
Ian Ferris of Shelburne, Vt., bought a bag of Yankees grass seeds -- yes, the team is even selling seeds now -- and hid them in his pants while attending a Phish concert at Fenway Park on May 31.
Ferris filled the bag with water and tossed it onto the infield.
“This is payback, Ferris told the New York Post. “If even one blade of grass sprouts on the field, I feel it was a success.”
Meanwhile, Gino Castignoli, the construction worker who planted the Red Sox jersey in the Bronx, did not sound concerned.
“My curse is working, Castignoli said. “It’s typical of a Yankee fan to think you can buy a jinx in a bag. When will they learn, you don’t win with your wallet but with your heart?”

It’s nervous time
With their Monday signing of former Cleveland and Seattle quarterback Charlie Frye, the Oakland Raiders now have six quarterbacks on their roster.
Along with Frye and disappointing-so-far starter JaMarcus Russell, the Raiders have Jeff Garcia, Bruce Gradkowski, Andrew Walter and Danny Southwick on the roster.

Appearing on “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” Michael Irvin revealed he was a Lakers fans.
Ferguson replied, “If you’re 11:30 on CBS, you get the Lakers [tickets]. If you’re on 12:30 on CBS, you get the Clippers [tickets].”
