The Arizona Cardinals stopped Michael Robinson up the middle from the two-yard line as the game ended Monday night to preserve a 29-24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Glendale, Ariz.

Kurt Warner completed 32 of 42 passes for 328 yards and three touchdowns for Arizona.

The NFC West-leading Cardinals (6-3) never led until Karlos Dansby’s 34-yard interception return set up Warner’s five-yard touchdown pass to Anquan Boldin with 4:16 left.

San Francisco (2-7) had two chances after that.

The first ended on Adrian Wilson’s diving interception of Shaun Hill’s pass. The second was much more exasperating for the 49ers.

Hill’s 14-yard pass to Jason Hill moved it to the Arizona one. With the last few seconds ticking off, running back Frank Gore was pushed by a defensive player as he ran around the left end, then stumbled to the ground just outside the two.

After officials reviewed the play to make sure Gore was down by contact, the 49ers handed off to fullback Robinson, who was stuffed well short of the goal line.

Patriots’ Thomas could be done

Adalius Thomas is the latest New England Patriots starter who might be out for the season after the linebacker suffered an arm injury.

Thomas didn’t return after leaving the Patriots’ win over Buffalo midway through the second quarter Sunday. The Patriots said only that he hurt his arm, but ESPN.com, quoting unnamed sources, reported Thomas broke his left forearm and “likely” will miss the rest of the season. Team spokesman Stacey James said that the next injury update would come after today’s practice.

The Patriots already have lost safety Rodney Harrison, quarterback Tom Brady and running back Laurence Maroney for the season.

Saints lose McKenzie

New Orleans Saints cornerback Mike McKenzie’s broken right kneecap will keep him out for the rest of the season.

Coach Sean Payton said that McKenzie would be put on injured reserve. The Saints claimed recently released Washington cornerback Leigh Torrence off waivers, giving him McKenzie’s roster spot.

Packers’ Barnett out for the season

Green Bay Packers Coach Mike McCarthy said that linebacker Nick Barnett tore a right knee ligament in Sunday’s loss to Minnesota and will be out for the season. McCarthy said coaches were discussing plans to replace Barnett, including using backup Desmond Bishop or moving outside linebackers A.J. Hawk or Brandon Chillar to the middle.
