Charlie Strong continued to clean house at Texas on Tuesday where he dismissed his ninth Longhorns player, offensive tackle Kennedy Estelle.

Estelle had been suspended for three games by Strong after a rules violation on Sept. 3. He had started at left tackle for the Longhorns in Texas’ only win of the season against North Texas, 38-7, on Aug. 30.

On Tuesday, he was officially released for a violation of team rules.

Since Strong took over, Texas (1-2) has parted ways with running back Joe Bergeron, safety Chevoski Collins, linebacker Deoundrei Davis, fullback Chet Moss, wide receiver Montrel Meander, running back Jalen Overstreet, wide receiver Kendall Sanders, defensive back Leroy Scott and Estelle.

Strong was 37-15 in four seasons at Louisville with three bowl wins.

But it hasn’t been just dismissals that have trimmed the Longhorns’ roster this season.

Quarterback David Ash, who started 22 games for Texas including the team’s season opener, was forced into retirement last week because of concussions, forcing freshman Tyrone Swoopes to take over the signal-calling duties.

Texas is coming off its bye week and plays Kansas State (2-1) on Saturday in Manhattan, Kan.
