An El Cajon police officer shot and wounded a man who allegedly fired a gun at officers during an armed robbery early Saturday, police reported. Antonio Ochoa Valega, no age or address given, was transported by Life Flight helicopter to the UC San Diego Medical Center shortly after 12:21 a.m. Valega was wounded in the right hand, right arm and left leg by gunfire from Officer Mike Hook, a three-year veteran. Hook and other officers reportedly came upon Valega and five accomplices as they held a motorist at gunpoint in the 1700 block of Greenfield Court. Police said Valega and the others were attempting to steal the motorist’s car, which had just been damaged in an accident. After treatment at the hospital, Valega and the five other, were booked at County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.
