Biola Edges Westmont for District III Title

Biola forward Joe Hutt hit two free throws with 13 seconds to play to give Biola a 53-52 win over Westmont in the NAIA District III championship game at Occidental College Wednesday night--but no one was quite sure until moments afterward who had won.

Westmont brought the ball up quickly and got off four shots at the basket--the last one went in--but the officials ruled the last two shots came after the buzzer.

Biola was led by Scott Haversick with 13 points. The Eagles will take a 29-3 record to next week’s NAIA tournament at Kansas City. Westmont finished with a 24-6 record.
