Walkathon Is Won, 13-12, Without Hits
Darkness, mercifully, stopped the game after six innings.
The line score read:
Team R H E Flintridge 1 4 1 1 2 4 13 0 11 Rio Hondo 2 0 0 1 5 4 12 4 11
That’s right, the Flintridge Prep girls won the slugfest in softball Thursday without a hit. Of course, 21 walks and 11 errors helped. Not that the Flintridge Prep pitchers did much better. They allowed nine walks.
Flintridge led all the way, but had to withstand a furious rally in the final inning, when Rio Hondo scored four runs and had the bases loaded with nobody out.
Reliever Keri Clark came in to douse the fire by striking out the first batter she faced, then inducing a pop up and a ground out. Flintridge improved its record to 5-0, while Rio Hondo is 0-2.
