SAN DIEGO —
A two-out triple by Lisa Koser drove home the winning run in the top of the ninth inning Monday and allowed Northwestern to beat USIU, 2-1, and gain a split of the team’s non-conference softball doubleheader at USIU.
In the first game, Gull pitcher Cindy Bird (4-2) pitched a compete-game four-hitter and Missy Silacci scored on an error to give USIU a 1-0 victory in eight innings. USIU is now 12-9. Northwestern is 6-2-2.
