El Cajon
A 26-year-old El Cajon security guard was hospitalized Tuesday after he reportedly shot himself in the abdomen while cleaning a .25-caliber semi-automatic pistol. El Cajon police said James Robert Hudson was shot at approximately 2:40 p.m. when the weapon he was handling discharged. Hudson’s wife, Rhonda, and a friend, Gregory Padstein, were present when the shooting occurred and immediately summoned paramedics. Hudson was taken to Grossmont Hospital and later transferred to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition late Tuesday.
