I found the March 2 episode of “G.I. Diary,” which dealt with the battle of Midway, to be entirely misleading, deliberately scripted to enhance dramatic misconceptions and entirely inappropriate for a TV channel with KCET’s integrity. My credentials for this criticism are that I was a naval aviator in the battle of Midway, which turned the tide of the naval war in the Pacific in World War II. It is too important an event to be given an inaccurate “Hollywood” portrayal.

We’ve had it with “Three’s a Crowd.” John Ritter can’t carry the show alone, and he certainly gets no help from his co-star, Mary Cadorette. In “Three’s Company,” there was a chemistry between Joyce DeWitt and Ritter that came right through the tube. A smart producer would team DeWitt and Richard Kline in a series and have an immediate hit. Those two did every bit as much as Ritter to make “Three’s Company” a long-running success.

What a delight to discover the Perry Como special that recently aired on Channel 11. Just when I was wondering what it was that turned me into a TV addict many years ago, I see something like Como’s show--full of charm, good music and warmth--and I know I’ll keep on watching in the hope of discovering more shows like it.

After 29 years of teaching I have retired and discovered the joys of television. I had never heard of “Taxi” before; now I can sing its praises forever. “Cagney & Lacey” is absolutely fantastic. “Murder, She Wrote” is marvelous. However, I would like to know if anyone but me sees the addition of the newest characters in “Dynasty” as completely ridiculous.

It is our hope that the producers of “Knots Landing” do not wreck the story lines the way “Dynasty” has destroyed what used to be an entertaining series. Throwing in parts here and there for famous actors and actresses to make brief entrances and exits is truly ridiculous.

In addition, Alex Trebek is perfectly suited to be host, although it took a while to get used to the absence of Art Fleming, the original host. The program has found that ideal balance between intelligence and humor, and consequently I have becomed addicted to it, as have many of my friends.

A year ago when KTLA changed the “20 Minute Workout” from 9:30 a.m. to 6 a.m., then 5 a.m., I’m sure that the station lost a far greater number of faithful participants than they gained. So I urge KTLA to reprogram “Workout” to 9 or 9:30 a.m., which would still leave a solid block of aerobic programs airing from 5:30 to 8 a.m. to accommodate workers and students, yet oblige those of us who work at home with this more reasonable time.
