Mt. SAC Dominates the SCC Track Prelims

Mt. San Antonio College had 42 men and 24 women qualify for the South Coast Conference track and field finals in the conference prelims held Tuesday at Santa Ana College.

The Mounties won the men’s and women’s dual meet titles and are the heavy favorites in both divisions in the finals, which will be Friday at Santa Ana. Field events begin at 12:45 p.m., with running events scheduled to start at 1:30.

Kathy Kiernan of Orange Coast College turned in the top performance in the women’s prelims with a time of 17:31.1 in the 5,000-meter run, the fastest junior college clocking in Southern California this year. Rob Arsenault of Santa Ana ran a 31:42 in the 10,000-meter run to highlight the men’s prelims.
