Kansas City was 22-26 in the regular season, finishing fourth in the Western Division. The Comets swept two games from St. Louis last week in a best-of-three wild-card series.

Minnesota won the third and decisive game of the other wild-card series on Sunday night by defeating Wichita in overtime, 3-2. Had Wichita won, it would have been the Sockers’ first-round opponent.
