FORMAN WINS BEST DIRECTOR AWARD

Milos Forman was named best foreign director, and his film “Amadeus” took all the international awards in the Italian version of the Academy Awards.

Francesco Rosi’s “Carmen” won most of the national honors of the David di Donatello prizes, and American actor Tom Hulce received the best actor prize for the title role of Mozart. Producer Saul Zaentz collected the Italian film industry’s Global Award for the best foreign movie.

“Carmen,” based on the Georges Bizet opera, received prizes for best director, best photography, best costumes, best editing and best screenplay among Italian films and a prize for presenting the best image of Italian cinema.
