Loara High School basketball Coach Brian Daly has accepted an assistant coaching position at the University of Iowa, Loara athletic director Ray Moore announced Monday.

Daly, 27, will be rejoining Hawkeye head coach George Raveling, who coached him at Washington State from 1975 to 1979. Daly was hired at Loara last fall and guided the Saxons to a 9-13 record and a fifth-place finish in the Empire League, the team’s best showing since 1977-78.

“While I feel disappointed that I won’t be working with the great kids at Loara, I think we have established a solid foundation that will pay off in future years,” Daly said. “This was a tough decision for me, but it is definitely a great opportunity.”
