Monterey Park
Lt. Gov. Leo McCarthy will participate in a ceremony and reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at City Hall to celebrate Monterey Park’s winning of an All-America City award from the Citizens Forum on Self-Government. Monterey Park is the only California recipient among eight cities nationwide chosen for the honor, which is based on the use of community resources to overcome problems. Judges in the annual awards contest cited Monterey Park for successfully integrating a large population of Asian immigrants into the community. City officials will receive the award at a banquet in Washington on June 17.
