Waiting Game Pays Off for Hawley, El Asesor

Sandy Hawley and El Asesor played a waiting game and then ran past three horses down the stretch to win the $40,000 feature race by a half-length Friday at Del Mar.
Laffit Pincay rode Onslow to second place, 2 1/2 lengths in front of Dr. Daly, ridden by Fernando Toro. El Asesor covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42 3/5.
Sent off as the fourth choice by 16,554 fans, El Asesor paid $11, $6 and $3.60; Onslow paid $3.60 and $2.60, and Dr. Daly returned $2.60 to show.
