Somethingwonderfull Sets Record in Win
Laffit Pincay rode Somethingwonderful to a neck victory in the $40,000 feature race Friday, setting a track record of 1:21 for seven furlongs.
The winner paid $5.40, $2.60 and $2.20. Donner Party, who nearly overhauled the winner in the closing strides, returned $3 and $2.40, and Ayman paid $2.60 to show.
Don’t Say Halo, a two-time stakes winner this year, heads a field of nine 3-year-olds in Sunday’s $138,550 Del Mar Derby on the turf course. Don’t Say Halo will carry top weight of 121 pounds and be ridden by Pincay.
