All-Pro defensive end Mark Gastineau of the New York Jets suffered a broken right thumb in practice and will be sidelined for possibly two weeks.
Gastineau was injured on a pass play when he was accidentally kicked by a teammate.
The Jets said they expect Gastineau to be ready for the season opener Sept. 8 against the Raiders.
