Grossmont Rallies to Beat San Diego City
Grossmont College rallied from a 10-0 deficit to defeat San Diego City, 32-10, Saturday night at San Diego High School in the season opener for both schools.
After Grossmont quarterback Barry Griffiths fired a 62-yard scoring strike to Rich Zayas to make the score 10-7, Rich Burley scored on a three-yard run with 7:22 left in the second quarter to give the Griffins the lead for good.
Griffiths completed 16 of 29 passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns. Rich Emke kicked three field goals for Grossmont. The Knights, who fumbled six times, had just seven yards rushing.
In other community college action, Cerittos defeated San Diego Mesa, 26-6.
