Three members of the Guardian Angels, including founder Curtis Sliwa, were arrested on suspicion of failing to obey a police officer who ordered them to stop blocking traffic on a street in Hollywood. Police said Sliwa and the others were handing out brochures to motorists on Melrose Avenue at Manhattan Place. Ordered to get back on the sidewalk, police said the three refused and were taken into custody and held in lieu of $500 bail each. Danny Lewis, leader of the Westside Los Angeles chapter of the Guardian Angels, said 30 members of his organization were in the neighborhood at the request of residents who had asked their help in ridding the area of drug dealers.
