Doran Leads Mission Viejo to Big Win Over University
Senior Bob Doran scored two touchdowns to lead Mission Viejo High School to a 42-3 nonleague victory over University Friday night in Mission Viejo Stadium.
Doran, who caught 5 passes for 128 yards, scored both touchdowns in the third quarter to give Mission Viejo (2-0) a commanding 35-3 lead.
The Diablos were also lead by Todd Yert, who scored 2 touchdowns and rushed for 70 yards on 16 carries.
Mission Viejo rushed for 223 yards, and held University (0-2) to 30 yards rushing.
Mission Viejo gained the lead when Dennis Erk returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown.
The Diablos got the ball back when Wayne Preheim recovered Craig Belle’s fumble at the University 36.
Seven plays later, Yert scored on a 8-yard run to give Mission Viejo a 14-0 lead with 7:13 left in the first quarter.
On the ensuing kickoff, Belle returned the ball 78 yards to the Diablos 15. However, the drive stalled, and Will Ferrell then missed a 28-yard field goal.
