Rosberg Is First Choice of Prost to Replace Lauda
Newly crowned world Formula One champion Alain Prost says Finnish driver Keke Rosberg is his first choice as a teammate to replace Niki Lauda next season.
Prost, who clinched the 1985 drivers championship last weekend at the European Grand Prix at Brands Hatch, Britain, said candidates for Lauda’s job on the McLaren team included Italians Michele Alboreto and Elio de Angelis and Brazilian Ayrton Senna.
“I was hoping McLaren would choose Rosberg,” Prost said.
“At McLaren, it is necessary to have two drivers capable of winning Grand Prix races because our first objective is to win the constructors championship. The drivers championship comes second,” Prost said.
” If we have good relations with Rosberg, everything should go well on the track.”
