Raiders Sign Moroski as QB Insurance

The Raiders added some quarterback insurance Wednesday by signing Mike Moroski, formerly of the Atlanta Falcons.
With Jim Plunkett out indefinitely because of a separated shoulder and starter Marc Wilson hampered by injuries, the Raiders were down to punter Ray Guy as their backup last Sunday in Cleveland after rookie Rusty Hilger was stricken with the flu.
“We worked out Moroski last week and were impressed with some of the things he did,” Coach Tom Flores said. “We’ll try to give him a crash course in our system. Fortunately, to his advantage, to our advantage, we have an extra day this week.”
The Raiders play San Diego Monday night at the Coliseum.
Moroski, 6-4 and 203 pounds, is from UC Davis. The 28-year-old quarterback was released by Atlanta last summer after playing six years for the Falcons and was picked up by the Houston Oilers, who let him go earlier this month.
