No. 1 Man Son Hing Beats Schultsmeier
Top-seeded Bruce Man Son Hing of UC Irvine defeated Rich Schultsmeier of the University of San Diego, 6-0, 6-2, Thursday in a first-round match of the Rolex-Southern California Intercollegiate Tennis tournament at Irvine.
Second-seeded Robby Weiss of Pepperdine won his first-round match, defeating Cal State Long Beach’s Mark Weidman, 6-2, 7-5.
The second and quarterfinal rounds will be held today, the semifinals Saturday and the final Sunday.
