Hollywood Blaze Controlled
Smoke was visible for miles, but no one was injured today in a greater alarm fire at a vacant four-story building in the 6300 block of Hollywood Boulevard, just west of Vine Street.
Twelve companies responded to the 11:33 a.m. emergency call, and the fire was under control by 12:08. A transient who was in the building at the time the fire started made his way to the roof, where he was rescued. The structure was once occupied by a clothing store.
