A two-alarm fire tore through a Leucadia shopping mall early Tuesday morning, causing $250,000 in damage to three businesses, fire officials said.

Another business not attached to the shopping center also sustained minor damage, officials said.

Paradise Hair Design, Paradise Clothing for Men and Women, and Paradise Cove and Deli Restaurant sustained the greatest damage from the fire that was reported at 4:16 a.m. It took firefighters from Encinitas, Leucadia, Solana Beach, Carlsbad, Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar and San Diego more than 30 minutes to extinguish the fire.

When firemen arrived at the shopping mall, at 996 N. Highway 101, the front of the restaurant was engulfed in flames, and a second fire was discovered in the southwest corner of the shopping complex, inside the clothing store.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials said, adding that arson is suspected.
