San Diego
A fire destroyed a wooden warehouse at the corner of Newton and Crosby avenues in San Diego early Wednesday morning, the San Diego Fire Department reported. Forty-four firefighters battled the blaze for an hour before it was contained, and one was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
The fire broke out at 4:39 a.m., and prompted a call to the Fire Department’s hazardous materials team because of a report that chemicals were being stored on the premises. The Metro Arson Strike Team was ordered to investigate the fire, which caused an estimated $250,000 in damage.
