Heavily Favored Chingaderos Runs Off With El Primero Del Ano Derby at Los Alamitos
Heavily favored Chingaderos captured the $308,000 El Primero Del Ano Derby by three-quarters of a length over Streakin Dash Saturday night at Los Alamitos Race Course.
Chingaderos covered 400 yards in 19.99 seconds and, as the 7-10 favorite, paid $3.40, $2.60 and $2.40. The victory was worth $130,284.
Streakin Dash crossed the finish line three-quarters of a length ahead of Doluino and returned $3.40 and $2.60. Second place was worth $49,218.
Doluino was a half-length in front of Corneille at the wire and paid $3 to show. Third place was worth $28,952.
Following Corneille across the finish line in the event for 3-year-old colts and geldings were Easy Grant, Easy On Limits, The Beduino, Rompin, Zircon and Ima Merridoc.
