Five former athletes from Cal Poly Pomona...

Five former athletes from Cal Poly Pomona are the first inductees into the school’s new Athletic Hall of Fame.

Selected were Don Hogan, Stan Jackson, Roger Folsom, Lorelee Miller and Sue Goransky, all standouts in two or more sports for the Broncos.

Football may have been the best sport for Hogan, a two-time small college All-American wide receiver. He also was a standout in basketball and track and coached the junior varsity and varsity basketball teams to a 114-99 record from 1973 to 1981.

Jackson, a teammate of Hogan in football, made small college All-American as a quarterback in 1958 and starred in basketball and baseball. He coached Pomona’s water polo squad to five conference titles in the 1960s and ‘70s.

Folsom, named the school’s athlete of the year for 1960-61, starred in football, basketball and baseball. Folsom coached the La Sierra High (Riverside) football team from 1970 to 1980 and is the school’s athletic director.

Miller, who posted a 107-35 record in eight years as girls basketball coach at Workman and Walnut high schools, was a Cal Poly standout in basketball, volleyball, softball, badminton, golf and bowling from 1961 to 1965.

Goransky, who has posted more than 300 wins as volleyball coach at UC Riverside, competed for Pomona in volleyball, basketball, softball, tennis, badminton and track from 1964 to 1968.
